Matthew Hoogervorst is a soft goods designer from Chapel Hill, NC, who is passionate about the outdoors, human connection, and new experiences. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Appalachian State University in May 2025 with a BS in Industrial Design. After studying design in Prague in the summer of 2023, Matthew exhibited a collaborative project at ICFF 2024. Matthew interned at Grounded Works Leather in Blowing Rock, NC, during the fall semester of 2024, and has been working there since as a designer and craftsman.

My first job was at a bike shop.
I bought my 2013 Cannondale CaddX there after a customer traded it in.
I also ride a 2022 Trek Roscoe.

I've been a skier since I was 10.
Paintball

During my freshman year at Appalachian State, I founded the App State Paintball club.
My goal was to create an inclusive place for everyone to try and enjoy playing paintball.
Hiking
Hiking
After my graduation at Appalachian State I went on a 5,000 mile road trip to hike in 7 national parks in the western US.
My favorite park is Yosemite.
